Alien vs Ninja
Alien vs. Ninja is a 2010 Japanese science-fiction comedy film written and directed by Seiji Chiba.
Produced by Nikkatsu studios, the film was slated for release in July 2010. The US DVD and Blu-ray were released February 22 2011.[1]
Plot
A band of ninja warriors, led by an Iga Ninja named Yamata, witness a giant fireball drop from the sky, crashing into the nearby forest. When the warriors search for the object, they discover aliens who captured and ate some of them. Yamata and the survivors swear vengeance. But when they counterattack the aliens, they learn that their weapons are useless.[2][3][4]
Production
The project was first announced at the 2009 Asian Film Festival.[5] In November 2009, it was announced that distribution rights were sold by Nikkatsu to Revolver Entertainment for the United Kingdom and to M Pictures for Thailand. The sale marked Nikkatsu's first such deal with London and Los Angeles based Revolver. Alien vs. Ninja is the first title for Nikkatsu's new label 'Sushi Typhoon'.[6] Principle filming was completed in early 2010,[7] and the film's world premiere was at the New York Asian Film Festival[8] on July 3, 2010.[9]
